Meet Lauren Bercuson, a Miami Trademark Attorney
Hi there! I’m Lauren, a Miami native and dedicated trademark attorney in Miami, Florida serving businesses throughout the United States.
My educational journey began at Tulane University in New Orleans, where I delved into the business world during my undergraduate years. In 2001, I graduated cum laude with a degree in marketing and, together with that degree, a keen appreciation for cajun cuisine, beignets, and get-on-your-feet funk beats. There is no shortage of incredible music in New Orleans!
Thereafter, my passion for the legal world brought me back home to the University of Miami School of Law. Upon graduating cum laude in 2005, I leaped into the niche area of intellectual property law and joined a prominent boutique firm, where I spent a significant part of the following years.
In my early days, I specialized in trademark litigation and prosecution. Trademark prosecution is all about ensuring new business owners can use their chosen name without any legal hiccups. Simply put, it involves clearing a trademark for use and guiding it from application through to registration. I grew to love this creative area of the law and became passionate about helping new business owners navigate the ins and outs of creating their unique trademark identity.
While I briefly explored commercial litigation, my passion for writing called me to serve as a clerk for an appellate court judge at the Third District Court of Appeal. This enriching experience lasted around 5 years and taught me more about the consequential importance of sound legal contracts. I also saw first hand the significance of having trusted legal guidance by an advocate who is at once honest, transparent and ethical.
Subsequently, due to life’s unpredictable twists, I had to shift gears for a bit. Due to health challenges with my second child, I pivoted into the world of creative writing. I channeled my love for stories into a job as the librarian at my children’s elementary school, and I also began reviewing children’s books. My blog, “Happily Ever Elephants”, has become a trusted resource for parents and educators, offering book recommendations for kids from birth until the tween years. This stint as a school librarian and blogger reinforced my dual identity as a creative writer and a legal expert. Not only did I perfect my writing skills, but my experience blogging led me to connect with many parents starting their own businesses, and I loved talking to new colleagues about how to best protect their brands.
Fast forward to today, and my two passions have beautifully merged. With my new venture, LB Legal Creative, I aim to be the smart start for entrepreneurs. By combining my knack for legal strategy with my love for creative writing, I offer a unique blend of services. Not only can I guide you in clearing and protecting your business name, but I can also craft compelling content for your website, provide all necessary legal documents, and even offer à la carte legal and copywriting services.
In the vast field of intellectual property, while trademarks are my forte, I am equally adept at tasks like auditing IP portfolios, registering copyrights, drafting and negotiating IP related agreements, and handling infringements. One thing to note – litigation isn’t on my menu. I prefer to keep things out of the courtroom, focusing instead on ensuring a smooth sailing for entrepreneurs like you.
